But only 11% of US mobile users have used any SoLo service.
Booyah's MyTown is the most popular US social location service by a distance, according to new research from mobile content firm Myxer.
For its latest BoomBox report, it asked 1,500 Myxer users whether they'd used location-based social networks, and if so, which ones.
Of those who have, 56% had used MyTown, with Loopt in second place on 12%. Foursquare and Gowalla polled 8% apiece, followed by Yelp (6%), Buzzd (5%), Brightkite (4%) and SCVNGR (1%).
Strangely, the survey doesn't appear to have allowed respondents to choose more than one of these services. How many of those MyTown users also use Foursquare, for example?
However, the survey shows that these services have a way to go to reach mainstream acceptance. Only 11% of those 1,500 users had used any social location services.

When asked why, 14% cited privacy worries, 23% said their phone isn't capable, and 56% claimed pure lack of interest.
"Our check-in report demonstrates that location-based social networks are growing but not mainstream yet," says Myxer CEO Myk Willis.
"We believe the success of such services hinges on the passive gaming element which may supercede true online-to-offline event discovery."
Both MyTown and Foursquare recently announced that they had signed up three million users, while Loopt has four million.
