MyTown tops 2.8m users and goes international

Booyah's social location game hits the UK, Canada and Australia.

Booyah has announced that its MyTown social location game for iPhone now has more than 2.8 million users in the US.

The game, which was only launched in December 2009, applies Monopoly-style game mechanics to Foursquare's check-in model, letting people buy and upgrade the places where they check-in.

Now MyTown is going international. Booyah has just launched it in the UK, Canada and Australia, using Google's Places database to provide data on locations.

"Booyah is the premier mobile and social gaming company on top of the exploding location graph," says CEO Keith Lee.

"Our launches in the UK, Australia and Canada are just the beginning of bringing real world gaming to players across the globe."

The international launch comes hot on the heels of Booyah's introduction of product check-ins, allowing players to scan barcodes of items in shops to earn points and virtual items in the game.
