MWC: Zeemote makes public debut

JS1 Bluetooth mobile phone joystick gets first public airing at MWC.

Several high-profile publishers and developers have made games that support the device, including Eidos, Finblade, Fishlabs and SEGA of America.

Zeemote, which received $6.9 million in funding last month, developed the joystick to overcome the problem of playing mobile games using a numeric keypad.

The games automatically detect the presence of a JS1 controller, which will make its way to market via operator and handset vendors deals that Zeemote is currently negotiating.

Beth Marcus, CEO, Zeemote, said: "Developers, operators, and gamers tell us the Zeemote JS1 controller is what they’ve been waiting for to unleash the real potential of mobile gaming. We’re already in discussions with a number of operators and manufacturers regarding bundling the controller with games and handsets."
