BeatDJ and BeatDISC handsets to offer music discovery tools.
Samsung has embedded Shazam's music discovery technology in its newly-announced BeatDJ (M7600) and BeatDISC (M6710) handsets.Both devices will initially include Find Similar and Find Tag features and will be available globally in April and May, respectively.
Find Similar uses Shazam’s collaborative filtering technology to offer customers other tracks they might like based on the individual track they’ve just tagged.
Find Tag, meanwhile, traces details of existing tracks on a phone where all or some of the information is missing or incorrect.
Shazam CEO Andrew Fisher said: “We’ve been working with Samsung for several years and our service has been embedded in many of their handsets. We’ve worked closely with Samsung to incorporate feedback on how we could build on the existing Find Music service and these new features for Samsung’s latest handsets offer an even greater music experience for their customers.”
