It's set to launch a system that lets two mobile users play a game on a giant jumbotron.
The German company is speaking to football clubs across Europe and hopes to have the solution in place for the start of the next footy season in August. Gamers make a voice call to initiative the game and control the action using the numeric keypad. Materna will start the system using simple games like Pong. The idea is that football clubs and other organisations with large screens will run competitions to find two winners to compete against each other in front of a large crowd. The back-end for the solution is Materna's own Multimedia Application and Content Server (MACS) platform.
Other applications offered include blogging, voting, raffles and more. For example, pop concert attendees could send comments to a flat screen in a text message.
