MWC: IMGA winners announced

Mobigame's EDGE game gets two awards and a contract with Connect2Media.

The French developer had a memorable night. It bagged the 'Excellence in Gameplay' award and the 'Operator's Choice' award, then got a distribution deal.

In fact, the firm was not around to pick up its first award because, we hear, it was locked in a room with Connect2Media signing the contract!

Eric Hobson, CEO of Connect2Media, said: "The seductive simplicity of Edge's gameplay coupled with the impressive technical execution makes it a truly different gaming experience. When played on an accelerometer enabled handset the gameplay becomes even more intuitive and I am sure that it is set to become a modern classic.”

The other winners were Firemint's Real Racing (Excellence in Connectivity), Urban Team's FastFoot-Challenge (Best Real World Game), Secret Exit's Zed Bound (Excellence in 3D) and RealArcade's Tropical Towers (Best Casual Game).

The People's Choice award, voted for by visitors to the IMGA website, went to Kroll, from Spanish firm Digital Legends.
