Media Generator will use coding efficiencies that reduce file sizes and deliver optimised sound.
The solution is aimed at service providers and content distributors and comprises a batch processing software tool, enabling the ingestion and management of content files for delivery over mobile networks.Specifically, Dolby Media Generator will feature Dolby Pulse, an audio codec that combines the efficiency of HE AAC with the company's own software integrations.
HE AAC is a widely adopted 3GPP standard used by four of the world’s top five handset manufacturers.
The Dolby Mobile mobile audio solution, meanwhile, is available in 11 phones worldwide, including the LG ARENA, the LG Renoir, and nine models from Sharp created for the Japan market.
Rolf Schmitz, Marketing Director for Mobile at Dolby Laboratories, said: "Dolby Mobile and Dolby Media Generator are intended to make mobile entertainment more compelling. These technologies are designed to work together, and can help the industry create products and services that will deliver a superior entertainment experience from content creation to content playback.”
