MWC 2013: Future ZTE phones/tablets to sport Dolby Digital Plus sound

Chinese OEM ZTE Grand Memo is 'the world's first smartphone' to come with the tech.

Yesterday it was announced that Dolby is being integrated into Korea's SK Planet app store, and ZTE now says Dolby Digital Plus sound will come as a standard feature in a wide range of its future smartphones and tablets, which will be enabled via a next-gen audio processing engine.

The ZTE Grand Memo will be 'the world's first smartphone' to feature the technology, according to the firm, and it will support richer and stronger audio across music, film, and TV playback.The 5.7-inch phablet also comes with a 13MP camera, which enables HD recording, a 1.5Ghz Snapdragon quad-core processor, and Android Jelly Bean.

He Shiyou, EVP and head of the terminal division at ZTE, said: "Delivering a quality entertainment experience is key to meeting the needs of today’s mobile consumers. By working with the world’s audio leader, Dolby, we can bring the rich, immersive audio experience envisioned by the music artist, film director, or sound designer to smartphone consumers wherever they go."
