3D isn't just for films and football. It's big news in the mobile world at Mobile World Congress this year, thanks in part to LG's unveiling of its Optimus 3D smartphone and Optimus Pad tablet.
Tech firm Stonetrip is riding the wave, showing off its Shiva3D engine on Texas Instruments' stand. The technology powers stereoscopic 3D games, optimised for TI's OMAP 4 mobile platform.
Stonetrip says mobile is one of its fastest growing markets, and seems chuffed with OMAP 4's capabilities.
"We view this increasing technological capacity as crucial to bringing mobile apps and games to a mass audience," says CEO Philip Belhassen.
"Oue 3D engine, Shiva3D, is designed to make creating advanced apps and games as easy as possible for developers across multiple mobile platforms."

Shiva3D supports iPhone, iPad, Android, webOS, Symbian and bada, along with Windows, Mac OS X and Linux on the desktop.
Will stereoscopic 3D be big (i.e. lucrative) for mobile developers in the near future? One barrier is the need for people to carry around 3D glasses, although some devices - the Optimus 3D for example - are shipping with 'glasses-free' 3D-capable screens.
