BBM, Google Maps and Zum Zum also garlanded at annual prizegiving fest, before Duffy serenaded the crowds.

Angry Birds took the top app prize at last night's GSMA Global Mobile Awards at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Rovio's big-selling game - originally published by Chillingo on iPhone - won the Best Mobile App category, and also the award for App of the Year on the Apple Platform.

Research In Motion's own BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) scooped the App of the Year on the BlackBerry Platform, while Google's own Google Maps won the Android prize. Perhaps platform owners should be barred from their own categories next year, in order to let some of their developers grab the limelight.

HeroCraft and InnerActive's Zum Zum got the prize for best app on Nokia phones at last night's awards, which also featured a musical performances from Duffy and Metric.

Apple's iPhone 4 won Best Mobile Device, but HTC won Device Manufacturer of the Year. The full list of winners is available here.
