PC-maker wants to take on HTC, Samsung, LG and the rest with its new devices.
Acer might be best known for its PCs and netbooks, but the company has big ambitions in the smartphone and tablet sectors.
At Mobile World Congress yesterday, it unveiled a range of new Android devices, which will go head-to-head with high-profile models from the likes of HTC, Samsung and LG.
Acer's Iconia Smart handset is its flagship smartphone, armed with a cinematic super-widescreen 4.8-inch display with a 21:9 aspect ratio. The device runs the Android 2.3 Gingerbread software, and will be on sale in May.
Meanwhile, the Iconia Tab A500 is an Android-based tablet with a 10.1-inch screen, running the latest Android 3.0 Honeycomb software. The device is expected to go on sale in April.
Acer isn't just about Android, though. The Iconia Tab W500 is similar to the A500, being a 10.1-inch tablet. However, it runs Microsoft's Windows 7 OS, and comes with a full-size docking keyboard for home use. It's due to go on sale in March.

Acer's devices also showcase its clear.fi service, which enables users to stream music, photos and videos to and from devices in their home network.
