Operators and handset makers can now mash-up their content
NewBay has unveiled its LifeCache Android Service, a runtime service for Android devices that its claims accelerates development of apps and services that connect to the LifeCache platform.
The LifeCache platform itself powers a range of user content services for over 80 million subscribers through NewBay's operator and OEM customers.
The company says its Android Service allows handset developers to access the LifeCache Social Networking Gateway, enabling them to develop social networking applications for any Android device.
In addition, the Android Service enables social networking functionality to be integrated with other applications on the Android device, such as the address book.
Mark Britten, Senior Product Manager at NewBay Software, said: “NewBay’s operator and OEM customers want the flexibility to customise and mash-up applications, with the reliability and scalability of telco-grade cloud services. This Android Service delivers both, providing a powerful development environment for user content cloud services for Android devices."
