MWC 2010: Mblox delivered 3.5bn mobile payments in 2009

That's a billion more application-to-person transactions than it processed in 2008

Mblox delivered 3.5 billion application-to-person mobile transactions in 2009, up 46 per cent year-on-year, with the company's total revenue hitting $110 million, up 10 per cent.

North America saw the largest growth, with payments volume up 127 per cent in 2009, with SMS transactions driven by messaging services and apps.

Western Europe volumes were up 44 per cent, with premium messaging spikes seen in France and Spain. Asia Pacific saw growth of 20 per cent.

Mblox has also unveiled a new mobile payments solution for the French market - the PayMobile solution is based on the Mobile Payment Mobile Enabler (MPME) platform from the French operators.

It allows content providers and advertisers to reference, promote and monetise their service offerings on the search engines of all three operators.

Mblox says it generated profits at an adjusted EBITDA level for the first time in 10 years during 2009, showing a swing of over $10 million before exceptional items.

The dramatic increase in mBlox market share in France and growth in other territories demonstrates the value of our global presence and focused strategy.”
