MusicStation into New Zealand

Vodafone NZ has launched Omnifone’s MusicStation unlimited music service.

Subscribers can now download the MusicStation app to a range of 3G mobiles, to download, discover, play, recommend and share music with other compatible mobile users. Users have unlimited access to over one million tracks from all major labels and leading independent labels for a flat fee of $2.50 per week. There are no additional data charges.

“To date, mobile consumers have only been able to buy music track by track in New Zealand. MusicStation’s launch on Vodafone brings unlimited music downloads to the masses on a wide range of mobiles,” said Rob Lewis, CEO of Omnifone. Vodafone has already launched MusicStation with various other opcos around the world.

In a parallel announcement Vodafone NZ confirmed all full track music from its dual download online music store, vmusic.co.nz, will be DRM-free for $1.99 and at 256kbs.
