ABI Research ‘Mobile Phone Accessories’ report said sales of headsets, memory cards, and data connection kits will drive the accessories sector towards sales of over $80 billion in revenues by 2012.Specifically, the popularity of music phones music has prompted strong demand for earphones and headsets as well as memory cards. In turn this has led to a new market for data connection kits connecting phones with PCs.
ABI added that operators are also happy to see more accessories being provided in-box, as these help generate greater usage of their non-voice services. However, aftermarket sales of these accessories are brining many new players into the market.
