Operator to offer its Ugandan customers Opera's mobile web browser.
Mobile broswer specialist Opera has announced a partnership with MTN, one of Africa’s leading networks.The deal will see Opera Mini software, which it says is used by 15.8 million mobile web surfers worldwide, offered as to MTN's customers in Uganda.
The company says Uganda has witnessed a widespread penetration of mobile phone technology, even in rural areas where it is seen as a preferable alternative to landlines.
MTN CEO Noel Meier said: “Partnering with Opera Software will enable MTN to provide [a mobile web] experience to our customers, therefore re-affirming our commitment to being a total telecommunications solutions provider in Uganda.”
