Ties in with the company's existing web-based service.
US mobile entertainment firm mSpot has launched its mSpot Mobile Movies service for iPhone as a downloadable app.
The app ties in with mSpot's existing on-demand rental service for PC, which means users can start watching a film on one device, then continue on the other where they left off.
It streams films over Wi-Fi or 3G, with better viewing quality over the former - mSpot has clearly stuck to Apple's rules on providing a lower-quality video stream for 3G.
Users can rent movies a la carte for between $1.99 and $4.99, or sign up to mSpot's Club subscription plan. The app itself is free to download.
mSpot is one of several companies targeting the streaming mobile movies market. Netflix launched its iPad app last month, with an iPhone version to come. Meanwhile, Blockbuster has its own mobile ambitions.
