Mspot adds traffic reports

mSpot, has done a deal with Navteq to bring live traffic content to mSpot Radio.

From today, mSpot subscribers can receive a mobile optimised version of the traffic.com live ‘JamCast’ audio traffic reports for more than 30 US cities. mSpot will receive a share of advertising revenue in return for distribution with operators carrying mSpot Radio.

The latter offers more than 200 channels comprising music, news, sports, finance, entertainment, talk, podcasts, and videos from brands such as CBS Radio, Clear Channel, Fox Sports, Marketwatch, NPR and Radio Disney. It also lets users purchase and download music, ringtones and screensavers.

“The structure of this deal is the right model for mSpot, allowing us to keep improving content programming without budgetary constraint,” said Daren Tsui,  CEO of mSpot. “It marks mSpot’s initial move into ad supported content, which allows us to provide our listeners with more options, while also providing mSpot an additional revenue stream.”
