Mplayit signs new carrier deals for social app discovery

Rogers and Telstra join O2 UK on its books.

Social apps discovery firm Mplayit has signed two new carrier deals for its technology: Rogers in Canada and Telstra in Australia.

They're the fifth and sixth operator partners for the company, which launched its service for O2 UK in November last year. It also has deals with Sprint and AT&T in the US, and Cellcom in Israel.

Best known for its Facebook application, Mplayit's carrier partnerships involve providing previews of mobile apps accessible from mobile and web browsers, with users able to comment and recommend apps to their Facebook and Twitter friends.

"Carriers throughout the world are facing unprecedented competitive pressure in terms of both app downloads and customer mindshare," says CEO Michael Powers (pictured).

"We offer them a simple and cost effective way to plug into users’ social graphs, massively improve their service proposition and help drive additional app downloads like never before."
