Mplayit launches App Guru apps recommendation scheme

Hand-picked experts rating iPhone, Android and BlackBerry apps.

Mplayit has launched the latest feature for its Facebook-based smartphone apps recommendation service: App Guru.

It involves a bunch of mobile industry bloggers and journalists - designated as gurus - rating and commenting on apps within Mplayit's service, with users able to follow their tips.

They rate apps and games with one to five stars. Apps rated four or five stars by at least two Gurus get a 'Guru Approved' badge to show their excellence.

Launch Gurus include representatives from IntoMobile, Pocket Gamer, Slide To Play, Pocket Games, Android And Me, Android Guys, Android Tapp and, er, me.

"Since the beginning, we have put social discovery and crowd sourcing - getting tips from your friends and seeing which apps are hot and which are not - at the core of our service," says CEO Michael Powers.
