Mozy updates mobile cloud offering

EMC brings secure access to backed-up data from Android and iOS apps among other improvements.

The mass data storage specialist offers two mobile-related products, MozyHome and MozyPro, both of which have now been updated. The new functionality includes:

* Enhanced web access
Users will be able to securely log in to the site  from any device with web access to preview and download files.

* Mobile apps for Android and iOS (iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch)
Users can securely access their backed-up files directly from their mobile devices, with support for photo previewing, file download and file sharing.

* Enhanced restore functionality
Users will be able to access more powerful searching, one-click download, 30-day-version viewing, and consolidated file transfer.

"People now regularly shift from one device to another; from a PC to an iPad in the home or from a laptop to a smartphone in the office, for example.  They want to protect that data and to be able to get at it wherever they are.

"Our users want access to their Mozy-protected data from a variety of devices and platforms, and we’re listening.”

The Mozy apps for iOS and Android are free for customers of MozyHome and MozyPro and are available now.
