Motorola slashes more jobs

Crumbling handset business sees 4,000 more jobs gone in addition to 3,000 redundancies already announced.

Motorola's handset division will account for 3,000 off the 4,000 redundancies confirmed today as demand for its devices plummets.

The company says the latest round of cuts, combined with December's redundancies and other measures will save it $1.5 billion.

In a statement Moto's co-CEOs Sanjay Jha and Greg Brown said: "Today's actions will allow us to further reduce costs, improve operating cash flow and help ensure that Motorola remains competitive and financially strong during these challenging times."
