Motorola: Mobile shopping increasingly popular

Half of shoppers across 11 countries used their mobile phones for in-store activities

A survey conducted by Motorola Enterprise Mobility Solutions says more than half (51 per cent) of consumers across 11 countries used their mobile phones for 'in-store activities' in the run-up to Christmas.

These activities included comparison shopping and getting peer feedback, product information and coupons.

Moto says this trend signals the increasing importance for retailers to adopt mobile shopper technology strategies to remain competitive. Unsurprising seeing as the US electronic giant provides such technology.

Anyways, according to the study 64 per cent of 18 to 34 year-old shoppers used their mobile phones in-store. In addition, all surveyed age-segments cited interest in 'next-generation retail technologies'.
