One in six people in Germany listen to online radio using mobile devices.
According to The Bavarian Regulatory Authority for Commercial Broadcasting (BLM) and strategy consultant Goldmedia's Web Radio Monitor report, 17 per cent of all hits to online radio stations come from mobile devices or apps, compared to 14 per cent in 2011.
The same study predicts that by 2014 24 per cent of all online radio traffic will come via Handy.
There are around 3,000 online radio stations in Germany and although the overall number of small stations declined slightly, online streams of FM stations have increased.
Desktop is still the most important source of traffic but its influence is falling as mobile becomes more popular - online radio traffic from static machines has fallen from 69 per cent in 2011 to 54 per cent today.
