Germany-based research2guidance says Android Market added 28,000 new apps in April 2011, while Apple added only 11,000.
At present Apple is some way ahead in total apps thanks to its longer run-up. It announced in January that its app store has 350,000 products in it.
Meanwhile Android's total was confirmed at 250,000 in March.
research2guidance appears to be going along with the thinking of Distimo and others in assuming Android will 'beat' iPhone here.
But how much of a victory this represents is up for debate. More choice doesn't mean more downloads – in fact, you could argue it reduces the opportunity for individual developers.
