Monitise revenue more than doubles in a year

Adding over half a million new registered customers per month.

Monitise is the UK company that powers mobile banking apps and services for over 300 financial institutions including Visa Europe, HSBC, RBS and The Co-operative Bank.

Its numbers get better every year, with full-year 2012 revenues expected to be approximately $53m – nearly two and a half times the $22m reported in 2011.

Meanwhile total Monitise registered customers are approaching 16m, which is three and a half times higher than last September.

For all that, the firm is not yet in profit, although it is on track for EBITDA break-even by December 2013. The reason for its optimism is a growing order book with more than $420m in it.

The last year has seen Monitise move aggressively into international markets, with the purchase of US-based Clairmail at the end of June. Overall, eight of the top 13 US North American financial institutions use Monitise/Clairmail platforms.

It also bought out its US JV and saw its Movida division seal a contract with HDFC Bank, India’s second-largest private bank, to launch new mobile payments services.

Alastair Lukies, CEO of Monitise, said: "The Mobile Money landscape continues to grow at an astonishing rate. As a major global force in Mobile Money, Monitise remains positioned at the centre of this huge ecosystem with its platform, skills and partnerships driving another year of phenomenal growth."
