Mondia launches Play Central streaming games service

Teams up with cloud specialist CiiNow to deliver console-like experience to 'casual hardcore' gamers.

Hamburg-based Mondia has been upping its game recently, hiring Avril McDonald from Buongiorno to accelerate its biz in EMEA.

The firm offers various content, marketing and commerce services to B2B partners, and is now able to add an integrated and managed games streaming service into the mix.

Michael Krause, VP of marketing and innovation at Mondia, said  ““Currently a major share of the annual revenues is generated by games and apps content. Therefore it was only a logical next step to also offer a premium games solution on top of the current service.

"With Play Central we are offering all partners  a console like games experience, enabling a totally new customer group which we call internally the Casual Hardcore Gamers.

"So even customers who are not willing to invest into a console or single boxed games can now play with the full experience anytime on any broadband connected device."

Mondia traded as arvato mobile until 2009 when it was bought by Mondia Ltd and the Abu Dhabi Group.

It has ambitions to be an end-to-end mobile VAS company, describing its remit as 'covering the entire value chain from licensing, production and distribution to customer support and billing'.

Its 'Entertainment Universe' white label platform is used by Vodafone, Sony Ericsson and others.

Ciinow's 'virtualization engine' runs games on a central server and streams them to connected devices.
