MOG gets approval for its iPhone music app

Launching next month with a $9.99 monthly subscription.

US streaming music service MOG says its iPhone app has been approved by Apple, despite more than a month spent in the submissions process.

The app will launch next month on the App Store, and will let MOG subscribers stream music on-demand, or access MOG's personalised radio feature.

Users will have to sign up to a $9.99 monthly subscription to use the app - they'll also get access to the web version for that.

MOG will join Pandora, Rdio and Rhapsody on the US App Store, while Spotify is available on this side of the Atlantic. MOG soon will be too: the company has identified the UK as its next launch market.

The delays in approvals for MOG and Rdio's apps had sparked fears of a change in attitude towards streaming music within Apple, possibly with one eye on launching its own iTunes-based streaming service later this year.

Those fears would seem to have abated now, with both getting the green light from Apple.
