Much talked-about modular device will make its commercial debut at Mobile World Congress.
Israel-based Modu - which has been developing a next-gen cellular dongle that can be switched between different handsets depending on user needs - will unveil its first commercial products next week.The company will begin by offering four 'jackets' into which its 'phone' can be inserted, with more to be added to what it calls the Modu Ecosystem over time.
The idea is to have different jackets for video, music, calling etc.
In addition to 2.5G mobile connectivity, the Modu Phone has music player functionality and 2GB of internal memory.
Modu was founded in 2007 by Dov Moran, the inventor of the USB Flash Drive. The company raised $85 million last year.

However, it was reported in November that the company had made significant cutbacks in it workforce.
