MocoSpace tops 20m members for mobile web gaming community

Launches three new HTML5 games to celebrate the milestone.

Mobile web gaming firm MocoSpace now has 20 million members, the company has announced.

The milestone comes as the company launches four new HTML5 games through its MocoSpace Games service, created by external developers.

New Game Town's Cage Fighter, Upgraded Studios' In The Club (pictured) and CelanderUS' Goosy Pets and Goosy Avatar are all free-to-play games tapping into MocoSpace's social features and virtual items system.

"The game industry is still focused on apps, but we’ve proven over the past year that millions of Americans are already playing and buying virtual goods in HTML5 mobile social games," says CTO Jamie Hall.

"Thanks to new innovations of our platform, we’ve made HTML5 game graphics and play as good as the app and playable for anyone with a smartphone, regardless of whether they’re using iOS or Android."

The company is having a busy year. It launched a $1 million fund to invest in HTML5 games in February, and even mulled a potential acquisition offer for stricken social network Myspace.
