Says Facebook Project Spartan will be a big boost for its mobile web games business.
Social mobile gaming company MocoSpace has added another $1 million to its HTML5 game developer fund, which it's distributing to companies who make mobile web games for the MocoSpace Games Platform.
The injection doubles the size of the fund to $2 million, with developers like New Game Town, Upgraded Studios and Celander US already having taken advantage.
MocoSpace says it's keen to get more games onto its platform, while also helping developers make games that will run on Facebook's Project Spartan mobile web platform, which is expected to be launched later this year.
"The best way to make a great cross-platform social gaming experience is to build with HTML5," says CEO Justin Siegel. "This is what Facebook is realizing – and we can’t wait to see what Project Spartan is going to offer consumers and developers alike."
These may be brave words, for Project Spartan is as likely to be a competitor for MocoSpace's own community, even though there will presumably be scope for MocoSpace to operate within Facebook's offering too, as a publisher.

MocoSpace says it currently has 20 million users in its own games community, with its in-house games Street Wars and Stage Hero currently attracting more than 700,000 monthly active users.
