MocoSpace boosts location features with purchase of Geocade

Will enhance in-house games to become 'location-aware'.

Mocospace is a 20 million strong US mobile social network that has expanded its remit lately into browser based social gaming.

In the last two years, it has launched 20 HTML5 games and started a $1m fund for third party HTML5 studios.

That seems to be the focus of this acquisition, details of which have not been disclosed.

"Two pioneers are joining forces today," said Geocade CEO Jim Caralis, who will join MocoSpace as VP of the firm's HTML5 gaming operations.

"MocoSpace created the first mobile social network and HTML5 games platform. Combine that with our industry first location-based social games company, and we have the recipe for a completely new game experience - beyond anything we’ve seen to date."
