Newcomer uses fresh funding to snap up struggling mobile app specialist.
Start-up MobUI has acquired Action Engine having secured new funding from GlobalNET Mobile Solutions to drive its push into the market.MobUI says it plans to use Action Engine’s app development and on-device portal technology to expand its focus beyond iPhone, Android and mobile web applications to support BlackBerry, Java, Windows Mobile and BREW content.
The US-based company says it has already secured contracts with three major consumer brands, to be announced in due course.
Action Engine - which recently made a round of redundancies - counts AOL, The Wall Street Journal.com, MarketWatch.com, Barron’s.com, MSNBC.com and TiVo among its customers.
