UK mobile video specialist Mobix Interactive has been bought by the US's SeaChange International.
The acquisition, carried out by SeaChange’s On Demand Group (ODG) unit, takes the US firm into growing European, Middle East and African mobile video markets. The £3 million deal includes a further £8.3 million over the next three years providing Mobix can deliver a series of financial and commercial measures.
Mobix supplies operators including O2 and 3 in the UK and Vodacom in South Africa, with various video services. It offers downloaded and streaming ad-enabled video and TV via its proprietary platform, Adrenalin.
ODG is well-established in the digital video space, delivering service creation, content aggregation and management for TV companies like Virgin Media, Telekom Austria, OTE and TTNET.It also has relationships with Paramount, NBC Universal, Warner Bros and others. It plans to "integrate Mobix’s nearby operations and workforce” into its London-based headquarters.
