GSMA celebrates success of 2009 trade show, but attendance down slightly from last year.
The GSM Association says more than 47,000 people from from 189 countries attended Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week.The figure, which includes delegates, exhibitors, contractors and media, is down slightly from 55,000 at the 2008 event.
MWC 2009 attracted 1,300 exhibiting companies and occupied more than 57,000 square metres of exhibition and hospitality space, a footprint 11 per cent larger than last year.
Nearly 2,400 international print, web and broadcast media attended.

The strong level of attendance, particularly among the C-suite of the world’s leading communications companies, demonstrates that Mobile World Congress continues to be the place where the industry comes to do business.
