Will deliver news, weather, sports, horoscopes and more to low-end handset users.
The content distributor already runs mobile content clubs, which bundle text alerts with content items such as ringtones, wallpapers and videos. However, these new services are targeted at user without WAP and GPRS access.
Pedro Rosillo, SVP of Latin America at Mobile Stream, said: "SMS text messaging is the dominant form of messaging and communication in our market so these new information services extend our reach and appeal to more consumers who want to receive news, weather, sports, horoscopes, lotteries and other types of text alerts on their mobile phones."
Alongside this, Mobile Streams will also launch new text-based mobile marketing services. This is pitched at brand owners, and uses a new mobile marketing campaign management module to the firm's MultiMobi technology platform.
Simon Buckingham, CEO of Mobile Streams, said: "It makes perfect sense for us to add these complementary mobile marketing and information services to our portfolio to build on our strong local presence within Argentina and Latin America. We are confident that these services will add further momentum in 2010 to the significant local success we have experienced in 2009."
