Working 9 to 5 for artists and celebs, including Dolly Parton.
DIY apps platform Mobile Roadie has flicked the switch on its support for Android, allowing its customer base of bands, celebrities and brands to automatically make their iPhone apps available for Google-powered smartphones too.
The service costs $499 in initial setup fees, plus a monthly fee of $29. Among those taking advantage of the new Android option at launch are Madonna, Ashton Kutcher and Dolly Parton.
Better yet, Dolly is quoted in the announcement - a quote so good, we'll reproduce it in full.
"My first phone was two tin cans tied together with string, and it worked pretty good. But now you can watch TV, download music and surf the web from your phone. Sure beats smoke signals. I never thought in my lifetime, that you'd be able to watch movies, read books and listen to music from a phone, but I guess the technology of tomorrow is here today. And to think that folks will be able to watch my Video Diaries and listen to my music on the go is just fantastic."
Cynics might argue it's a good time for Dolly to be releasing an Android app, given Apple's new boob-banning policy on its App Store. But not us.
