Distinctive Developments, Rockpool Games, Fishlabs, Ideaworks3D and Opera are among the finalists at this year's Develop Industry Excellence Awards.
Hosted by ME sister magazine Develop and held on July 25th 2007 at the Hilton Metropole in Brighton, the Develop Industry Excellence Awards honour the best creative, technical and business minds in UK and European games development. This year the mobile games industry is represented by Fishlabs (in the New Handheld/Mobile IP category for Galaxy on Fire), Ideaworks (Innovation Award category), Distinctive Developments and Rockpool Games (both in the best Handheld/Mobile Games Studio category) and Opera (in the Best Use of Online category for its Nintendo DS browser software).
Develop and ME publisher Stuart Dinsey said: "In a period which has seen the launch of two home consoles, the continued improvement of Xbox 360 and PC software, and the mobile games market emerge as a genuine creative and commercial alternative to the more traditional games platforms, only the most excellent titles have any chance of standing out from the crowd."
