Mobile Fun will get your old phone will send you one last text before killing it.
The UK-based ringtone and games specialist has unveiled a new service that takes old phones and buries them in the Kursk Magnetic Anomaly in Russia. For an additional £5 the terminal teminal will send a farewell SMS to its successor. Probably something like ‘please don’t kill me, I have so much more to give’.Mobile Fun has signed a contract with Russian company KMABS to dispose of the old devices. It chose a region called the Kursk Magnetic Anomaly because of the huge amount of iron ore it contains, very close to the surface. This minimises the potential electromagnetic radiation impact of a large number of mobile phones buried in one location.
It also helps Russian mobile phone users cope with the increasingly popular new-age idea that there is some kind of 'zen' trapped inside old mobile phones. "I am positive that huge magnetic radiation of KMA will be strong enough to release any trapped electromagnetic subconscious psyche,” said Andrey Koltakov, the Russian lifestyle behind this belief.
