Mobile Chilli to launch mobile music download service in South Africa

Major label deals take firm into fast-growing African market.

Mobile Chilli offers individual music tracks, full albums, games, video and ringtones to feature and smartphones. It delivers a dual download, so users get a copy of their purchase on phone and PC.

The firm says its European mobile portals has registered a 400 per cent increase in users since early 2010 and is on course to hit 1m paid downloads by the end of 2011.

Steve Kitchen, MD of Mobile Chilli, said, "We're delighted to be working with EMI, Universal, Warners, Sony and Ministry of Sound to bring their catalogues to mobile users across South Africa."
