You can almost hear the airwaves straining
Ericsson says the number of subs grew 500m in 2010, but that this number will double before the end of this year.
It says 400m will come from Asia Pacific, with North America and Western Europe grabbing 200m each.
Of course, it's smartphones, laptops and tablets that are driving all this. And mobile data traffic is expanding accordingly. Ericsson announced in August 2010 that traffic tripled in just one year.
By 2015, Ericsson believes mobile broadband subscriptions will top 3.8 billion, with 95 percent driven by HSPA, CDMA and LTE networks.
