Mobile web-based store sees 23m apps shifted in December alone.
Italy's Mobango now claims to be the fastest growing independent app store in the world. The firm launched in 2006, and describes itself as a social apps store that offers both UGC and professionally created content.
It currently houses 20,000 apps for Symbian, Android, Flash Lite, Palm, Java, Blackberry and Windows Mobile platforms.
Mobango offers free ad-funded downloads, but launched a pay promoted download business model in March 2009. This gives offers publishers the means to distribute apps to targeted consumer groups.
