Mitch Lazar to lead Taptu's US charge

Former Turner and Yahoo mobile exec heads home.

Mobile search startup Taptu has announced plans to expand into the US, opening an office in Denver.

It's also hired former Yahoo Mobile Europe director Mitch Lazar as its new president and COO, to head up the new US division.

He'll be responsible for business development, marketing and product management, with R&D remaining at Taptu's Cambridge headquarters in the UK.

Before Yahoo, Lazar worked at media giant Turner, steering its early efforts in mobile content.

One question: Denver? The location of Taptu's US office may raise eyebrows, but the company says it means the new US team "will have easy access to both the West and East coast".
