Music conference gives 30 developers 48 hours to come up with something special.
The hackathon will take place from Saturday January 28th to Monday January 30th January in Cannes, with APIs and data banks made available to the developers for free.
They're challenged to come up with any kind of app as long as it’s music-related, and the best apps will be presented to the public during 'Visionary Monday'.
Midem hack day is launching a call for ideas which runs until January 4th and is open to all midem participants.
The best ideas, up to a maximum of 20, will be picked by the Music Hack Day organisers, and those chosen will outline their ideas in person to the developers during the opening session on January 28th.
Dave Haynes, Midem Hack Day organiser, said: “Over the past two years, Music Hack Day has created an open sandbox and playground for developers to prototype and build new music apps using an array of new platforms, APIs and technology.

By providing support and ideas to Music Hack Day, the industry can experiment with new ways for fans to discover, consume and interact with music, creating essential new opportunities for the future.”
Last year, ten apps were invented including the SoundCloud site “Takes Questions”, which gives artists a chance to communicate directly with fans.
