One-handed typing is back!

In the pre-smartphone days, one-handed typing was de-rigueur, but with the advent of touchscreens their larger keyboards, it became more difficult.

It seems Microsoft have had enough of using two hands and the company appear to be testing out a curved keyboard, which is supposed to allow one-handed typing.

This leaked photo shows a one-handed onscreen keyboard for Windows Phone. The curved keyboard is rumoured to be a secondary option, and looks very similar to the T9 system we grew up with.

A curved keyboard definitely has the curiousity factor, and it will be interesting to see how the word recognition issue is tackled. Even on full-size keyboards, phones regularly spew out the wrong words, and with three characters to each key, the margin for error is increased.
