New apps and features for developers on the way.
Microsoft has showed off new features for its Windows Phone 7 OS at its MIX11 conference in Las Vegas, as well as showcasing some of the apps in development for the platform.
Microsoft's Joe Belfiore showed a series of features from the 'Mango' update for WP7, including multi-tasking, a new version of the Internet Explorer 9 browser, and integration of Twitter in the social 'People' hub of the software.
Belfiore also demonstrated a selection of apps that will make use of these features, including Skype, Spotify, Layar and Quantas Airways. Microsoft is also kicking off its new Xbox Must Have Games scheme in May, which will include heavy promotion for games including Angry Birds, Doodle Jump and Plants Vs. Zombies.
Belfiore also apologised for the ongoing confusion over when and how Windows Phone 7 updates will be delivered to users, with users concerned that their operators are able to slow down or even block the release of software updates.
A selection of videos from the keynote speech are available to watch here.
