Microsoft serves ads for MSN

Microsoft is to manage ads for MSN Mobile in the US. Hardly earth-shattering since it owns the brand anyway.

Paramount Pictures, Ford Jaguar and Bank of America will be among the first to advertise on the portal, with ads delivered as either small graphics or text ads, depending on the phone screen.

Microsoft already serves mobile ads in Japan and some European markets so this deal accelerates its move into the space. The Seattle giant’s aggressive intentions were made clear with two acquisitions this year: online specialist aQuantive Inc and Parisian mobile agency ScreenTonic.

MSN’s portal connects users with Hotmail, instant messaging, search, news and other content. It recently expanding its offeeing with services from content retailer Thumbplay.
