Microsoft has hinted that its improved entertainment revenues have been largely due to mobile
It reports revenues for its Entertainment and Devices Division (EDD) were just over $6 billion, a 28 percent increase over last year's $4.75 billion. The division comprises hardware and software products such as the Xbox 360 and Zune. However, the company noted that annual revenue in its mobile segment was up $138 million, or 28 percent, "driven by sales growth in Windows Mobile and Windows Embedded operating systems.”Despite its increased revenue, EDD suffered an increased operating loss for the year of $1.89 billion. Microsoft said this was primarily due to costs of an extended Xbox 360 warranty, along with Zune launch-related expenses.
