The Wall Street Journal reports that 10,000 (around 10 per cent) Microsoft serfs are using the Apple device (according to anonymous sources with access to Microsoft internal servers), even though the top execs frown on their use.
Apparently, at an all- company meeting in a Seattle sports stadium, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer pretended to stamp on one employee's iPhone when the minion got it out to take pics. Ballmer has been widely quoted as saying that when his father worked for Ford Motor Co, his family always drove Fords.
In early 2009 Microsoft modified its policy to only reimburse service fees for employees using phones that run on Windows Phone software.
Reports suggest some employee disguise their iPhones with cases, while others renounce their Apple handsets when they join. Stephen Elop, president of Microsoft's business division, was alleged to have put his in a blender.
