Digitag thumb print ID device scoops top prize at 2009 MEX Mobile User Experience Awards.
Last week's conference brought together more than 100 execs interested in all areas of the mobile user experience. The annual event competition handed out four awards. The winners were:
2009 MEX Mobile User Experience Innovator of the Year
Digitag, designed by Aaron Rustill. Digitag mobile phones have a unique product identification code, which it is encrypted and contains the user's biometric data in the form of a thumb print.

Little Spender, designed by Ribot, is a cleverly conceived app that uses tilt, touch and more to show the user's monthly outgoings.
Freelance category
The Doo Phone, designed by Rhys Cooper, is a phone interface pitched at people with an intellectual disability. Its icons are based on people's faces.
Commercial category
nru, designed by lastminute.com labs, is an Android application that lets users see what events and venues are nearby by pointing the handset.

Happy Handsfree, designed by James Slater, puts call functions on the user's wrist to avoid risks of radiation associated with holding a phone to the ear.
